Fun Exercise Ideas For Seniors

Exercise is an important part of everyones life but once we turn 65, we often think that exercise isn’t for us anymore. Staying active and independent isn’t as hard as you think. Here are a few fun ways to increase your exercise and improve your health (but remember to always see your health practitioner before starting any exercise program).

Try Dancing

Dancing is a great way to get your heart rate up but still have fun while you are doing it. You can either turn up the radio when you hear your favourite song and twist and kick your legs, or grab a partner or the grand kids and get dancing. A song usually lasts for 2-3 minutes so try to move to a whole song and then increase the number of songs as your stamina gets better.

Try Playing With The Grandkids

If you are lucky enough to spend time with the grandkids, ask them to get a ball or a bike and then take them outside to play. Don’t just sit on the deck and watch them from afar…. make sure you’re right there in the action and have fun exercising and spending time with your family.

Try Bush Walking

Find yourself a sturdy pair of shoes and a few walking partners then find some great walks around your local area. Remember to pick a walking trail to match your ability. Once your out in the fresh air, you’ll feel great and happy. (Remember that your Jeenee Assist will work anywhere there the Optus Network is available)

Try Swimming In The Ocean
